Direct answer

What is an AI agent for WhatsApp?

An AI agent for WhatsApp is a system that talks to a company's customers and decides the next step of each conversation, following the rules and the information of the business. It understands text, audio and images, answers based on what the company has taught it and takes action: it schedules, sends a document, follows up or transfers to a person.

It is different from a menu bot, the kind that asks you to type 1, 2 or 3. A menu bot only follows a fixed script. The agent understands the question as it comes in, remembers what has already been said and chooses the right action for that moment in the sale.

Features

What the agent does on your WhatsApp

Every conversation follows the rules of your operation: what can be said, what needs a person and what the next step is.

A customer chats on her phone and a thread of light carries the conversation to a team member, who takes over the service on her computer
  • Replies in seconds

Answers questions about services, products, lead times, payment methods and policies, based on what the company has approved.

  • Qualifies

Understands the need, the profile and the urgency before handing over to sales, and records what it heard.

  • Schedules

Checks availability in Google Calendar, agrees on a time with the customer and records the appointment.

  • Follows up

Gets back to people who stopped replying, at the time and with the message defined by the company, without being pushy.

  • Recovers sales

Receives notices of abandoned carts and pending boleto and Pix payments from the checkout and resumes the conversation with the context of the purchase.

  • Calls in the team

Hands over to a person when the conversation requires it, with the summary ready so that nobody repeats questions.

The checkout integrations available today are Hotmart, Kiwify, Eduzz and Guru. Website forms, lead capture pages and internal systems connect to the agent by webhook, defined during implementation.

Example

How a conversation unfolds

At 9:40 p.m., a consulting firm receives a contact who arrived through Google. Nobody on the team is online.

Customer
Hi! I saw your website. Do you work with engineering companies?
Agent
Hi, Marina! Yes, we do. Most of our clients today are in engineering and construction. Which area do you need support with: design projects, public bids or construction management?
Customer
Construction management. We have three job sites under way and a lot of rework.
Agent
Got it. So the consultant arrives prepared: how many people look after the job sites today, and do you already use a management system?
Customer
About eight people, and we use spreadsheets.
Agent
Thank you. I have Thursday at 10 a.m. or Friday at 3 p.m. for a 30-minute conversation with the consultant. Which works better?
Customer
Friday at 3 p.m.
Agent
All set: Friday at 3 p.m. The invitation is on its way to your email, and the consultant will receive the summary of this conversation.

Ecosystem

From search to the conversation that closes the deal

The agent is the last stage of a path that Flowup already takes care of. Each stage passes the information on to the next.

A woman on a sofa follows a thread of light that leaves a search result on her laptop and reaches her phone, where the conversation continues
  1. Found

SEO puts the company in front of the right searches on Google.

  2. Cited

GEO and AEO prepare the company to be described and recommended by AIs with the correct facts.

  3. Visited

The website, landing pages and forms present the offer and lead to WhatsApp with the source recorded.

  4. Answered

The agent replies, qualifies and schedules with the same knowledge base as the website.

  5. Measured

A single report shows where each conversation came from, what people ask and what turned into business.

The questions that reach WhatsApp also flow back to marketing: they become answers on the website, content topics and adjustments to the knowledge base. This is the B.I.N.A. Method applied to customer service: the Information Base feeds the agent, Intent Intelligence guides qualification, the Authority Core keeps the answer consistent on every channel and the Digital Asset now includes customer service.

How we work

What you get in each layer of the agent

Who it is for

Where the agent makes the biggest difference

  • B2B companies, consulting firms and service businesses

Contacts that arrive outside business hours and go cold. The agent qualifies, schedules the meeting with sales and hands the context to the salesperson.

  • Clinics and medical practices

An overloaded front desk and no-shows. The agent answers routine questions, books, confirms and sends reminders for appointments, and hands over to the team everything that is clinical.

  • Digital businesses, courses and digital product creators

Launch peaks and sales that stall at checkout. The agent handles the peak and follows up on abandoned carts and pending boleto and Pix payments.

  • Companies with a small team

Nobody to reply at night and on weekends. The agent answers 24 hours a day and knows when to call in a person.

When we do not recommend the agent, or not yet

  • Low volume of conversations: the WhatsApp Business app, with Meta's free agent, may be enough.
  • Disorganized company information: the first step is the knowledge base, and the agent comes afterward.
  • Decisions that require a professional, such as a medical diagnosis or legal advice: the agent only does the triage and hands over to the right person.

Comparison

Meta's free agent or a specialized agent?

In June 2026, Meta launched its own AI agent for businesses on WhatsApp. It handles the basics well. The difference shows when the conversation is part of a sales operation.

Implementation

How we implement the agent

Each stage ends with a deliverable that you approve before the next one begins.

  1. Diagnosis of the operation

How WhatsApp is used today, how long it takes to reply, what people ask most and which systems need to talk to each other.

  2. Knowledge base and tone of voice

Facts, services, policies and approved answers, in the brand's tone of voice. This is the Information Base of the B.I.N.A. Method.

  3. Flows, integrations and tests

Qualification, scheduling, follow-up, sales recovery and handover to the team, tested with real conversations before going live.

  4. Monthly follow-up

Review of conversations, updates to the knowledge base, rule adjustments and a report on what changed.

Investment

How the investment works

Three parts, shown separately in the proposal.

The investment is quoted on request and, for international projects, the price is defined in a proposal. It depends on the volume of conversations, the channels, the integrations and the use cases. When Meta's per-message fees apply, as in campaigns, they appear separately in the proposal.

Security

Security, Brazil's data protection law (LGPD) and Meta's rules

Trust is a condition for selling on WhatsApp. In Brazil, most people are concerned about their own data.

  • 77%of Brazilians usually talk to companies on WhatsApp.Opinion Box, 2026
  • 61%of Brazilians do not feel comfortable sharing sensitive information through the app.Opinion Box, 2026
  • 77%of Brazilians are concerned about the collection of personal data by AI systems.Opinion Box, 2026

How the agent works within the rules

  • Official WhatsApp API (WhatsApp Business Platform), with the rules on sending, consent and phone number quality defined by Meta.
  • A customer service and sales agent for the business itself, a use that Meta allows. Meta's January 15, 2026 restriction on general-purpose AI assistants is suspended in Brazil by a decision of Cade, the Brazilian antitrust authority, upheld by its tribunal in March 2026. Cade treated the per-message fee that Meta created for those assistants as non-compliance with that decision and kept a daily fine in April 2026; the fee does not apply to a company's own customer service.
  • Campaigns only for contacts who have agreed to receive messages.
  • Handover to a person always available, with the rule defined during implementation.
  • The agent does not make diagnoses, does not give legal advice and does not ask for data beyond what is necessary.
  • Roles defined in the contract: your company is the data controller, and whoever processes the conversations on its behalf acts as the data processor, with a channel for requests from data subjects.

Measurement

How we measure results

The indicators are defined in the diagnosis, with the baseline of your operation.

  • Time to first reply, before and after the agent.
  • Qualified conversations and meetings or appointments scheduled.
  • Sales resumed at checkout, when there is an integration.
  • Source of each conversation: Google, AIs, ads, website or form.
  • Most frequent questions and the points where customers drop off.

We do not promise a conversion rate or a number of sales. The result depends on each company's volume, offer, audience, rules and sales process.

Talk about my customer service
What is an AI agent for WhatsApp?
It is a system that talks to customers through the official WhatsApp API, understands what each one needs and carries out the next step: answering, qualifying, scheduling, following up, recovering a sale or calling in a person from the team.
Does Meta allow the use of AI on a company's WhatsApp?
Yes, for the customer service and sales of the business itself. On January 15, 2026, Meta restricted general-purpose AI assistants, which answer about any subject, on the API. In Brazil, that rule is suspended by a decision of Cade, the Brazilian antitrust authority, upheld by its tribunal in March 2026. Meta then created a per-message fee for those assistants; Cade treated the fee as non-compliance and kept a daily fine in April 2026. Flowup's agent only answers about your company and is outside that fee.
What is the difference between an AI agent and a chatbot?
A menu chatbot follows a fixed script, with numbered options. An AI agent understands the message as it comes in, remembers what has already been said, consults the company's knowledge base and decides the right action for each conversation.
Who takes care of the agent?
Flowup. It handles the diagnosis, the knowledge base, the tone of voice, the integrations, the implementation and the monthly follow-up, and it is your point of contact from start to finish.
Does Flowup use its own agent?
Yes. Flowup's first contact on WhatsApp is handled by Iasmin, our AI agent, at any time. She understands the need and routes the conversation to the right person on the team.
Do I need the official WhatsApp API?
Yes. The agent works through the WhatsApp Business Platform, Meta's official API. During implementation, Flowup checks the number, the account and the sending rules with you.
Can I keep using my current number?
It depends on how the number is used today. This check is part of the diagnosis, and Flowup explains the options before any change.
Can the agent make mistakes?
It can, like any customer service. To reduce the risk, answers are checked against the knowledge base before they reach the customer, the rules say what the agent cannot answer and the conversations are reviewed every month.
What about Brazil's data protection law (LGPD)?
Your company is the data controller, and whoever processes the conversations on its behalf acts as the data processor. The roles are set out in the contract, the agent asks only for what is necessary and data subjects have a channel for access, correction and deletion.
How much does an AI agent for WhatsApp cost?
The investment is quoted on request and has three parts: diagnosis, fixed-price implementation and monthly operation with the technology license. It depends on the volume of conversations, the integrations and the use cases. For international projects, the price is defined in a proposal.
Does it work together with my website, my CRM and my marketing?
Yes. Forms and pages on the website send the contact to the agent, the source of each conversation is recorded and the qualified lead goes on to the CRM. This is the part that Flowup connects with SEO, GEO, website and brand.
