Focus of this case study: WordPress development only. That is why it publishes no search or traffic metrics: no number appears in a case study without a stated source and period.

In short

NovaBio, the association created in 2019 that brings together mills and distilleries of Brazil's sugar and bioenergy industry, relies on Flowup Agency for the development and maintenance of its corporate WordPress website: information architecture for ten official sections, UI/UX, loading performance and full autonomy for the editorial team, with ongoing monthly support.

This case study has a deliberate focus: development only. With no search metrics and no AI layer, the subject here is the WordPress engineering that makes a corporate website last: structure, design, speed and day-to-day operation.

The client

Who NovaBio is

NovaBio (Associação dos Produtores de Açúcar, Etanol e Bioenergia, the Brazilian association of sugar, ethanol and bioenergy producers) was created in 2019 to work for initiatives and public policies that recognize the importance of sugarcane derivatives in Brazil's energy mix, bringing together mills and distilleries of the sugar and bioenergy industry.

An association lives on institutional communication: news, articles, press releases, events, governance and the list of members need to be public, up to date and easy to find. The website is not a business card: it is the association's editorial operation, publishing every week.

The challenge

A corporate website that publishes every week and has to last for years

The challenge in developing an association's website is not the launch: it is what comes after. The platform has to meet three demands well, all at once.

  • People

Members, the press and the market, who arrive to read a news story, check the governance or find a contact, on any device, without waiting.

  • Editorial operation

The association's team publishes news, articles, press releases and events continuously, and needs to do it on its own, without depending on a developer for the day-to-day work.

  • Technical longevity

Updates, security, performance and evolution over the years: a corporate website that ages badly becomes a liability, not an asset.

A good corporate website is one that nobody notices: it loads fast, is easy to publish on and does not go down. That invisibility is engineering, and it is the subject of this case study.

Approach

The project through the B.I.N.A. Method

Even with a focus on development only, the project can be read through the four fronts of the B.I.N.A. Method, Flowup's methodology for digital authority.

  • Information Base

Each type of official information has its own section and a stable URL: the association, governance, members, press and contact, plus an official reference page.

  • Intent Intelligence

Members, the press and the market arrive to read a news story, check the governance or find a contact. The navigation takes each of them to the destination in one click.

  • Authority Core

A weekly editorial operation in four streams (news, articles, press releases and events), plus the news from member companies: the industry speaking through the association.

  • Digital Asset

A WordPress platform with performance treated as a requirement, a dashboard organized by content type and ongoing monthly support since delivery.

The solution

The development: a WordPress platform for an editorial operation

Flowup developed NovaBio's corporate website on WordPress, the platform that runs 40.7% of all websites (W3Techs, August 2026), with development managed by Guto Bertoncini and six engineering fronts.

  • Corporate WordPress platform

A structure customized for the association format: institutional pages (the association, governance, members), four editorial streams and a technical base for continuous evolution. This is Flowup's website development practice.

  • Information architecture

Ten official sections besides the home page, each type of information with its own address and a clear hierarchy: anyone looking for governance, members or press gets there in one click.

  • UI/UX design

A clean institutional interface, comfortable reading and predictable navigation: the UX practice applied to people who read official communication.

  • Loading performance

Speed treated as a development requirement (optimized images, lean code and caching), in line with the performance optimization and Core Web Vitals front.

  • Editorial autonomy

A dashboard organized by content type: the NovaBio team publishes news, articles, press releases and events without touching code, and was trained to operate the platform day to day.

  • Monthly support

Ongoing support since delivery: tested updates, security and incremental improvements. This is Flowup's practice of WordPress website maintenance (in Portuguese).

Work delivered

What was delivered for NovaBio

Each deliverable has its own page in the portfolio, including the Official AI Knowledge Base, which is outside the focus of this case study.

Architecture

The map: every type of official information with its own address

The heart of the development is the information architecture: an association produces different types of official content, and each one was given its own section, with a stable URL and a defined role, all public and verifiable at novabio.org.

Official sections built on the platform and the role of each one
Official section Role in the architecture
A Entidade (The Association) who the association is: the institutional parent page
Governança (Governance) structure, boards and responsibilities
Associados (Members) the mills and distilleries that make up the association
Notícias (News) the association's main editorial stream
Artigos (Articles) in-depth content and positioning
Notícias das Associadas (News from Member Companies) the industry speaking through the association
Eventos (Events) the institutional calendar
Releases (Press Releases) official material for the press

Information architecture is what separates a website that grows in an organized way from a website that piles up pages. Here, every type of information has a home, and the team knows exactly where to publish what.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about the NovaBio case study

What did Flowup Agency develop for NovaBio?
Flowup Agency developed the association's corporate website on WordPress: information architecture with ten official sections besides the home page (the association, governance, members, news, articles, news from member companies, events, press releases, contact and the official reference page), UI/UX design, loading performance and editorial autonomy for the team, with ongoing monthly support since delivery. Development is managed by Guto Bertoncini.
Where does the information in this case study come from?
The information in this case study comes from the public project itself: the novabio.org website and its official sections, verifiable by anyone. This case study has a deliberate focus, WordPress development only, and therefore publishes no search or traffic metrics. It is Flowup's rule: no number appears in a case study without a stated source and period.
Why was the website developed on WordPress?
The website was developed on WordPress because, for an institutional editorial operation, WordPress is the market standard: it runs 40.7% of all websites and holds 59% of the CMS market (W3Techs, August 2026), and it gives the association's team real publishing autonomy, with a mature ecosystem for maintenance and evolution. Flowup treats WordPress as engineering: architecture, performance and ongoing support, not just a theme and plugins.
Can the NovaBio team publish on its own?
The NovaBio team can publish on its own, and that is one of the central goals of the development. The dashboard is organized by content type (news, articles, press releases, events), the team was trained to operate the platform and the day-to-day editorial work does not depend on a developer. Monthly support takes care of the technical layer: updates, security and improvements.
How is performance handled in the development?
Performance is treated as a requirement, not as a later adjustment: optimized images, lean code, caching and a lightweight structure are part of the build from the start, and the support routine keeps watch over speed as time goes by. It is the same practice as Flowup's performance optimization and Core Web Vitals front.
What does the website's monthly support include?
The website's monthly support is the ongoing maintenance of the platform: core, theme and plugin updates applied with testing, security, backups, fixes and the queue of incremental improvements. The full description is on the WordPress website maintenance page (in Portuguese).
Does Flowup develop websites for associations and industry bodies?
Flowup develops websites for associations and industry bodies. Associations are a natural use case: an intense editorial operation, official information and the need for technical longevity. Also in the sugar and bioenergy industry, Flowup serves Bioenergia Brasil, with a different focus: there, the case study is about source governance for AI; here, about the development of the platform.
How do I start a corporate website like NovaBio's?
A corporate website like NovaBio's starts with the brief or the diagnosis: Flowup assesses the editorial operation, the current website and the organization's needs, and comes back with a plan covering architecture, scope and timelines. The strategic design follows the B.I.N.A. Method, and the conversation can start with the website brief or on WhatsApp, through the button at the end of this page.
